Four walls at a time, places like the Tina Turner Museum, adapted from the Queen of Rock’s restored 1899 childhood schoolhouse in Brownsville, Tennessee, teach us vital lessons about the history of our nation and We the People. The American Music Landmarks Project is proud to celebrate another Civic Season with Made By Us, offering Gen Zers no-cost personalized opportunities (remote and/or in person) to explore the living architectural legacy of American popular music while collecting their “tracks” - suggestions for music landmarks they wish to see featured in our Mixtape250 playlist for America’s semiquincentennial in 2026.

School of Rock: The above photo was taken by our founder Sheryl Davis in September 2019 during her first visit to the Tina Turner Museum and annual Tina Turner Heritage Days event in Brownsville, Tennessee. The museum was featured in the AMLP's inaugural Music Landmarks Fest as was the neighboring last home of country blues pioneer Sleepy John Estes, the introductory location for our very first initiative, the Adopt a Music Landmark program. We heartily congratulate our friends and project partners at the West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center, the stalwart guardians of these special places, on the upcoming Tina Turner statue unveiling September 27th during their 13th annual Tina Turner Heritage Days!

We are very proud to share that, in just its fifth year, Civic Season reached 30 million Americans online and thousands more in person in 2025 - a cumulative 80 million since this new tradition began in 2021! The American Music Landmarks Project was one of over 700 organizations hosting 1,700 events and activities across 50 states. Civic Season By Numbers.

Congratulations to Made By Us and all involved in making the fifth anniversary of this exciting and much-needed new tradition in American civic life such a wonderful success! We are grateful for this unique opportunity to connect Gen Z with US music landmarks for our fourth consecutive year.
